Anaphora

Definition

In terms of rhetoric, anaphora is the meaningful repetition of the same words or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses or sentences. Writers use the strong rhythm of this repetition to provoke a reaction from the audience, emphasise an idea and make it memorable, and to convey the emotions of a character.
